I'm on 64-bit Mint 17 KDE. 6-core AMD with SSD and 4Gig of RAM. Processor usage configuration 0% for multi processor and 100% for CPU. Have both "use GPU" and "while computer in use" checked.

I _never_ see more than 4 running tasks.

Is there some internal design flaw where BOINC cannot achieve more than 4 concurrent tasks even though there are cores available for use?

Can you check the event log at startup and post the lines that talk about your computer hardware and your preferences?

By setting "On multiprocessors, use at most N processors" to a value lower than the amount of processors you have, you're setting a minimum value that BOINC will use when "On multiprocessors, use at most X% of the processors" is set to 0%.

Your log doesn't go far enough for us to see how many tasks actually run. It would be nice to see that bit of detail.

Btw, that was the entire content of the log.

I'm not going to worry about this anymore. At some point there will be an update, or their won't. I trimmed the settings to 80% now so what is actually happening appears consistent with the settings values. With both % of processors and % of cpu time set to 80% I still see 5 running tasks.
