Running 2x 6970's crossfire with 6core 3.9ghz- 16g-ram1866 -1050wtts of power with an extreme3 970 mobo. up dated drivers and still she run's between in the high 60's(C) we keep the place at comfortable 78(F) also the graphic's during the off time- is so unstable -would like to hear some live person to talk too amd gpu over heating!! need solution |

60-70 degrees Celsius when they are under load isn't exactly overheating but normal temperature. My one HD7870 does that as well, running Seti@Home, but depending on environment temperature. Now that it's autumn temps are around 60C, but in summer they're easily topping 70C. You could go for after-market cooling on the GPUs, or water cooling to get temps down. But otherwise, when they're under load they're going to heat up. As for graphics instability, you'll have to be more eloquent about that. Also tell what OS you run, which drivers. What you use to test with. |

Under load, a CPU will run in the mid 60s. A GPU can run much hotter than a CPU before it starts to get damaged. |

It really depends on the individual chip, the Core 2 Duo in my old MacBook Pro regularly goes up into the 80s, and the fans don't max out until about 90--though they do ramp up as soon as BOINC gets started. My i5 with a closed-loop water cooler/radiator doesn't go much above 55. My Detailed BOINC Stats ![]() |
