I have just started to get a detection warning with bitdefender Trojan.Generic.11754710 The entire message reads... web resource http://cpdn-downloads.oerc.ox.ac.uk/download/legacy/hadcm3s_7.24_windows_intelx86.exe that had been detected as infected. Virus name:Trojan.Generic.11754710. The web resource has been successfully blocked . Is it a false positive or a real threat ? Thanks in advance , Bryan |

I've run several models with that application, on a machine protected by Norton Anti-virus. No warning has been shown. Provisional judgement: it's a false alarm. But I'd run it through https://www.virustotal.com/ to be certain. Edit: hmmm. Detection ratio: 10 / 54 - that's more than I would like, but none of the really big players see it as a problem. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/d6db1b0463eb8b362d5e689102866d098c519482576c6bac1ce2f61b4c062f91/analysis/1411403613/ |

99.999999% sure it is a FALSE POSITIVE. Best BOINC practices (for now) are to EXCLUDE the BOINC PROGRAM & BOINC DATA Folders. |

Most likely a false positive. The virus name is Trojan.Generic, which means it thinks it's a generic virus. Some antivirus programs use heuristic analysis to predict new viruses, and that's where most of the false detections come in. |

Update about Trojan Detected So I removed the Climate project and reloaded it about a week later and have scanned it several times since restarting and no warnings of any kind....and that makes me happy : ) Bryan |
