I recently bought an Asus "Transformer Book" T100 that is a netbook/tablet with detachable keyboard than runs on an Intel Atom processor and Windows 8.1. I've been running BOINC on it, and while the heat output (fanless system) and computational output are acceptable, the one trouble I'm having is with maintaing a battery charge while running BOINC. The tablet charges off USB, which depending on my power source can be rather difficult; even with the 10 W power supply that came with the unit, I really only make positive progress on charging when the screen is off. While I would like to have it contributing to BOINC, it's a real bummer to pull it out somewhere and find the battery dead. So far, the only solution I've had is to power it down completely between uses, which I don't always remember to do. Because its charging behavior is very similar to the way Android devices work, is there a third party app or any other way that I can enact a "Minimum Battery Level" setting for this device? The developers are looking into possibilities, may take a while for something to surface. But it is on the to do list. |
