I would like to run BOINC on an extra, older notebook with LINUX. It currently has Win XP. I am considering Xubuntu, Debian or Fedora. Currently, I run BOINC on a Linux Mint 13 setup, but it has issues, which I have not been able to resolve. The issue is, while BOINC is running, the screen backlight never turns off and seems to be an issue with no handling the computation manager correctly. I am searching for a LINUX distro which does not have this issue and seems to run correctly. I have been running BOINC projects since 2004 on Mac OSX, Win XP and Win 7. I am new to Linux and would like to use it for BOINC. I have searched for solutions to the listed issue on BOINC, Linux Mint, and Ubuntu forums for some time, without results.
