Folks; I upgraded one of my machines (or tried to) this morning and ran into the following problem. After upgrading BoincManager and restarting (iMac, 2.66 core 2 duo, 10.6.8); I got an error that BoincManager couldn't connect to a client .. restart the daemon. So I started it from the command line and got the message 'can't find cc_config.xml'. I removed everything I could think of, and re-installed and still got that message. removed everything again, restarted and tried to down grade, it said I still had a newer version installed; did I want to install anyway, I did; and STILL got the same message. WHAT do I need to do to COMPLETELY uninstall, so I can re-install a working version ?? Russell |

Did you have a cc_config.xml file before? If you didn't, it's nothing to worry about. BOINC doesn't come with a core client configuration file as that's normally used for debugging and giving extra commands to the client. BOINC runs perfectly fine without one. |

BOINC Manager not being able to connect to the client is usually because of: - permission problems. - a firewall that doesn't allow the BOINC binary and the BOINCMGR binary to communicate with each other on TCP port 31416. - another anti-malware or anti-virus program that doesn't allow the above. - the BOINC client not running. Check with the activity monitor if it is. |

Jord; No AV or Firewall. SHOULDN'T; re-install take care of permission issues? Here is what BoincManager displays on Launch after re-install: BOINC Manager - Daemon Start Failed BOINC Manager is unable to start a BOINC client. Please start the daemon and try again. and this is what I get if I try to run the client from the Command line [Terminal] $ /Applications/BOINCManager.app/Contents/Resources/boinc 13-May-2014 16:13:25 [---] cc_config.xml not found - using defaults File ownership or permissions are set in a way that does not allow sandboxed execution of BOINC applications. To use BOINC anyway, use the -insecure command line option. To change ownership/permission, reinstall BOINC or run the shell script Mac_SA_Secure.sh. (Error code -1022) |

Please run the Uninstall BOINC utility in the Extras folder that came with the 7.2.42 installer, then try installing again. Charlie Fenton BOINC / SETI@home Macintosh & Windows Programmer |
