I've only found a couple of solutions for dealing with the high CPU load of MsMpEng (part of the Windows Security Essentails program) on the interweb and none of them seem to work--that is, excluding certain programs or directories from the software's real-time scan function. Has anyone come up with another solution, aside from the obvious one of disabling real-time scan or just uninstalling MSE? This is the first host I've had issues with MSE on (including XP hosts) although this is one of the few hosts that I've dealt with Vista for any period of time... Normally it has a much lower footprint compared to other AV solutions. Anyway, I notice that in the task manager, this process jumps up and down the CPU usage chart... It would seem this started with an update sometime in February, as the CPU time versus time elapsed dropped a bunch. Tried uninstall/reinstall to no avail. Right now, I've got 8 hours elapsed on an Einstein task, with only 42 minutes CPU time. I would just bump up to 7 on this machine, but I don't have an available license at the moment.
