OS: Lubuntu 32bit boinccmd commands return "Can't connect to local host", and the GUI BOINC Manager tries connecting for a bit, then gives up and shows Disconnected in the bottom right corner. Cause? Solution? No gui_rpc_auth.cfg exists anywhere except in my trash. apt-get removing boinc, client, and manager, then reinstalling BOINC made no difference. This is a signature |

No gui_rpc_auth.cfg exists anywhere except in my trash. BOINC creates that file if it doesn't exist. If you don't want to use password then create an empty file and restart client. |

Create it where? I came across the file in different places. This is a signature |

If you are running the Ubuntu package, you should have a link /var/lib/boinc-client/gui_rpc_auth.cfg that points to /etc/boinc-client/gui_rpc_auth.cfg. Edit the one in /etc. Although the package comes with a gui_rpc_auth.cfg file that contains only a linefeed character so should be the same as no password already. |

Yes, creating a new file there fixed the issue. Strange. Wonder why it didn't automatically create that file. Oh well, I'll keep this thread in mind if there are any similar issues in the future. Cheers. This is a signature |
