Hello, I set up BOINC on a MacBook 4,1 and trying to find an optimal setting using BOINC manager's CPU time limit setting in order to keep the MacBook cool, with fans running on min. revs. However, I am noticing that CPU time limitation does not seem to do what it's supposed to do. Any setting over 48% works fine, hence Activity Monitor (set to refresh every 5sec) reports CPU percentage very close to that set under BOINC manager. However, if I set the CPU time limitation under 48%, Acivity Monitor reports percentages of under 15% CPU utilization on the project. Could this be project-specific (I am currently running seti@home, both tasks running are astropulse)? As a sidenote (don't know if it's related), remaining time estimation has run way off, it's been 20hrs not on one task at 17% and remaining time reports 22hrs still; guess that's not right... |
