Hello all, I have BOINC installed on a Win 7 Ultimate x64 bit Dell laptop that our family uses. Recently wiped hard drive and re-installed Windows. After re-installing all the programs we had previously, I can now not get BOINC to connect for any non-admin user (I'm the admin user). When non-admin users log on and are idle, after a while they all get a message that "The BOINC client has exited unexpectedly 3 times within the last X minutes. Would you like to restart it again?" and the client does not ever connect to any projects. I have tried adding changing the security preferences for boinc.exe, boincmgr.exe, boinccmd.exe so that all non-admin users have the correct permissions. I don't think my anti-virus software [MS Essentials] is blocking (I have added the BOINC folder and the safe exe files to the "don't block" list). What do I need to do? I'm sure that there is something silly that I'm missing but I couldn't seem to find the right answer in the forums. If I've missed it, apologies and please feel free to re-direct me......thank you! --Nick |

Oh yes...tried uninstalling and re-installing to make sure that the "install for all users" button was checked during installation and it was. Thanks. |

It's a known problem with the way user permissions are set up by the installer - see ticket [trac]#1025[/trac]. We keep trying to drag the devs back to fix it, but something more urgent always intervenes. |
