What option settings must be reduced so that the computer generates less heat?

maybe using less cpu processing creates less heat? if so how do i lower the cpu processing?

The Best method for making a CPU run at a lower temperature is just to Buy a better CPU cooler, the ones that ship with them aren't normally very brilliant,
other methods to reduce CPU temperature are to run less tasks, or run the tasks less of the time, ie at 50% of the time,
Or you can change the CPU clock/multiplier values in the BIOS to reduce the clock.

In your computing preferences, set 'On multiprocessors, use at most 100% of the processors' to 50%, that will only run enough tasks to fill 50% of your cores.

Make sure the computer is able to adequately cool itself:

1. Are all the fans working properly and unobstructed?

2. Is the compter set up with plenty of air space around it so heat can dissapate and not build up around the computer?

3. VERY IMPORTANT: be sure to clean the dust from inside the computer on a regular basis!

I believe the coolers must be ok, ive just inserted new thermal paste and on my MBPro the heat doesn't override 87oC degrees (when working at 100% on the other hand at 50% it doesn't get more than 63oC) you think its ok?
