My slower cruncher always seems to keep a good balance between its two projects, Seti/AP and Einstein. But my i7 does not. It always seems to go nuts working on one to the detriment of the other, then switch and go nuts on the other for a while. After finishing off a lot of Einstein work, it didn't contact that server for 31 days. It actually dropped off my host list due to inactivity, only to reappear the next day. And wouldn't you know, as soon as it downloaded 54 Einstein WUs, its Seti WUs in progress started to drop below the limits. (Note that this did not happen last week when Seti was having trouble filling requests, it happened this week after that problem was fixed.) I did change my cache settings from 6 and 10 days down to 1 and 4 (still using Boinc 6.10.60) because I was getting concerned about my falling RAC at Einstein. It had no immediate effect. Question: is there any difference in how shares are handled between 6.10.60 and 6.10.58? The other box is running .58. Hmm. It just occurred to me that the slow box is on a separate venue, and it has very different settings, 0.1 and 0.5. Maybe I should try that for the i7. But 1 and 4 seems like it's a pretty good scale up of the difference between their abilities, based on average credit. signature |

Well of course, as soon as I said anything here about it, the computer in question went out and bumped itself back up to 200 for Seti. It may have finished a bunch of Einstein, but it hasn't reported any. signature |
