After d/l 65 and installing it (aptitude), then rebooting, I'm still running 27. When I started the manager from the left pop-out menu, it started 27 again. So I removed the manager from the pop-out menu (yes, that's not the right name for it).

I'd like to make sure that 65 is actually and correctly installed and I'd like to run it if it is. I'd also like to see that 27 is not installed any longer. Although I'd also like to continue work (if possible) on the existing stock of work units I have.

I hope I don't have to uninstall 27 and then re-install 65. Ideally, I'd like to add a source for BOINC so that the Update Manager will do the installations for me. Forlorn hope?

I'm hardly an expert in Linux, but I think I'm getting better. My long term goal is to migrate from Windows to Linux for most all of what I do.

I run BOINC on my linux box from the home dir as it's own user and so don't use the packaged version, that way I don't have to wait till the packaged version catches up with the latest. Only problem I had was getting it going again after the upgrade to Saucy broke so I had to do the installation from scratch and then to get CPDN working took a bit of playing around to get all the 32 bit libs required.

It may be too late for this; however, Ubuntu 12.0.4 has the Ubuntu Software Center... With GNOME installed and running, under Applications Menu, straight down to the bottom of the list.

Select Ubuntu Software Center, when it finishes launching, in the search box type in BOINC and hit enter. It will come up with a listing for BOINC Manager; if already installed, you will see a green check mark on it. Select the More Info button. Then you will see a Version #, (probably 7.0.27), and a drop down arrow. Select the drop down and choose 7.0.65 if it asks to install hit install. It will automatically update you from 7.0.27 to 7.0.65. Make sure that BOINC is NOT running when you do this. (That's what I did...) It will update BOINC and keep your Work Units intact.

Now that 7.2.28 is out; I'm waiting for Ubuntu Software Center to updated to show it so I can get that to run.

I just looked at my BOINC Manager Installer under Ubuntu Software Center, today, and found that 7.0.27 is NO LONGER THE DEFAULT... It is now stating that 7.0.24 is the Default; however, 7.0.65 is still the latest implementation of BOINC that Ubuntu Software Center shows.

I know for fact; however, that when I installed BOINC that Ubuntu Software Center showed that 7.0.27 was the default. That was months ago...

Yet, the instructions I gave you, Ross, still stand. If you follow them, you will get 7.0.65 installed on your Ubuntu system.
