I upgraded my Mac to OS X 10.9 and the Boinc manager no longer starts. I get an error pop up, "Boinc ownership or permissions are not set properly; please reinstall Boinc. (Error code -1008)" I downloaded what I think is the correct Mac version, and when I click to install I get another dialog box which says "Boinc Installer" can't be opened because it came from an unidentified developer. Google Chrome downloaded this file today at 7:28am from boinc.berkely.edu. I cannot find a version of Boinc in the Mac App store, which is what they recommend. Any ideas ? Thanks. Richard |

I downloaded what I think is the correct Mac version Which version is that then? It'll have a name. Ah, the community gave me a hint (I'm not a Mac user): "Right-click on the installer and click Open. You’ll then be given the option to run the installer instead of just the blanket approach of not being allowed to install it. This option has been around since Gatekeeper was introduced, back in 10.7.5 IIRC." |

I upgraded my Mac to OS X 10.9 and the Boinc manager no longer starts. I get an error pop up, "Boinc ownership or permissions are not set properly; please reinstall Boinc. (Error code -1008)" Reinstall BOINC..., BUT FIRST, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > Allow applications downloaded from: Anywhere. If the above option is greyed out, click the Lock to unlock using your OS X username and password. Once you're done installing BOINC, go back to System Preferences, re-toggle the option back to Mac App Store and identified developers. |
