We have BOINC installed in our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center here in Rochester, MN. We've just upgraded to Windows 8 on all our computers so we need to use the BOINC 7.0.64 version right. All of our computers are protected by Deep Freeze and automatically restarted every morning at 2 AM to clear off whatever the students might have done to the systems. As a result, the Notices flag from BOINC gets displayed in the Notification Area of Windows 8 every day. We've been unable to find an option which would allow us to turn off those Notices. Right now, the only way to keep them from popping up for every student is to thaw Deep Freeze, display the Notices, and then Freeze Deep Freeze again. This takes quite long and it would be much better if we had an option to never display those notices. |

Don't know i it is in 8. ![]() |

SeniorNet_Rochester_MN, The BOINC Manager, if that is loaded, of course has various Systray options to not show the icon or the notifications or both, W8 or W8.1 which has the return of the start bar [without start button I've read]. Of course, the more elegant might be to have your Deep Freeze image not loading the BM [it's not needed, either installed as user or service], or set in the BM Advanced View > Tools > Options to never show notices, which has a pick list, of Always, 1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 1 week, and Never. Not running here with a BM loaded, so they never pop up. Coelum Non Animum Mutant, Qui Trans Mare Currunt |

Thanks SekeRob2, I had even seen that option and never put 2 and 2 together. I've now set that option to NEVER and that should resolve the problem. Thanks |
