Installed BOINC after updating OS to Fedora 18. Installation went as expected. Started BOINC Manager. Works fine. Set computer to localhost, then went to /var/lib/boinc to fetch the password and the directory is empty. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail. I was running Fedora 16 before F18 and BOINC ran fine, no problems. Anybody have any insight into this problem? Thanks.

Obviously, BOINC runs from another directory then. There's plenty of ways to search for a program in Linux, whereis, locate, find, what do any of them return?

Have you looked in /home/boinc/, just in case?
You don't say where you got BOINC from, Fedora repos or Berkeley, but both install to different directories.

Problem solved by restarting boinc-client. The necessary files are in /var/lib/boinc. I used "yum install boinc-client boinc-manager" to install BOINC.
Everything running well. Thanks for the help.

I used "yum install boinc-client boinc-manager" to install BOINC.

That's repositories then. And those are maintained by someone else, not by us.
But glad you got it running, even without my help. :)
