I just had my MB pro retina screen replaced from an LG (ghosting) to a Samsung and ever since Boinc has been crashing and causing issues. Let me preface all of this by saying that I have never had any issues with Boinc. I have a hot corner set up to go straight to a screen saver and when I do this now the screen saver crashes and returns to my desktop. With the Boinc screen saver selected in my preferences it causes my other hot corner (mission control) to not respond. (Function) F11 or F3 does not work as mission control then either. My trackpad also does not respond to any 4 finger commands but will still do 2 finger scrolls and page back/forward stuff. When I change the screen saver settings to anything else then run the screen saver for a second and return to my desktop, all of the above issues go away. I tried downloading the newest version of BOINC and it did not help, also uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing as well. Below is the logged error for someone better at these things than I am to decipher (there is more on the log but I was trying not to have a huge post). Thanks guys!

How do you have the monitor connected? Is it configured as a mirror of the built-in display or as a two monitor (side by side extended desktop) setup? If the latter, which is the main screen (the one with the menu bar) and what are the resolution settings (pixel dimensions) of each screen? Any other details about your monitor configuration would be helpful.

Ditto with this problem; lose Mission Control completely, all system-wide trackpad shortcuts except scrolling and triple-tap dictionary. Using the preview w/in System Preferences also fixes the problem.

I use an external monitor frequently but my monitor was not connected at the time. However, my display is an LG. This seems to be a Retina problem, not a screen-specific one. It is also present in 7.0.31. Scratch that: screensaver works in 7.0.31 but still kills trackpad functionality.

EDIT: Seems to crash trackpad functionality when BOINCManager is not open.

I believe I have fixed this problem. Please download this test build of BOINC and let me know if the screensaver now works for you. This screensaver has the added feature that if you have BOINC set to not compute when on battery power, the screensaver will also run in a special low-power mode when your Macbook Pro is running on battery (by not using the power-hungry discrete NVIDIA GPU.)
