Hi Gals/Guys: I've been a SETI user since the mid-1990's and subsequently a BOINC user since it took over. Currently running v.7.0.64(64bit) on W8 and computing for SETI, LHC, MilkyWay, MalariaControl and Einstein. I've been using the anti-spy/malware software SpyBot S&D for nearly 10 years. It has an immunization feature requiring regular updating. Recently, BOINC has shown up in its browser protection. My problem is that when immunization is run, with BOINC shutdown as instructed, the immunization for BOINC fails. Any suggestions? Thanks! Bill Cody in Ottawa, Canada |

Used Spybot S&D for many years, but about 1-1.5 years ago ditched it. Grown to Monster gobbleware, intrusive, CPU time sucking. It's become bigger than the problem it's supposed to prevent. Coelum Non Animum Mutant, Qui Trans Mare Currunt |

Don't use it any more either. You might be able to exclude the Boinc folders from any scans. |

I don't see how this is a problem for BOINC to solve, but more one for the makers of S&D: http://forums.spybot.info/ I don't use S&D anymore either, am now using SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. |

'Immuni(s/z)ation' presumably requires writing something into BOINC's program folder - and that's probably forbidden by BOINC's own sandbox security measures. That sounds like BOINC is doing its job properly. |
