Help! BOINC keeps failing. This has been happening for some months now, and happening so frequently that I have stopped BOINC from running (great shame!). Here is the latest entry from the system event log: Faulting application name: boinc.exe, version: 7.0.28.0, time stamp: 0x4fb2b417 Faulting module name: vrfcore.dll, version: 4.1.1078.0, time stamp: 0x4b702994 Exception code: 0x80000003 Fault offset: 0x00003c38 Faulting process id: 0x2900 Faulting application start time: 0x01ce24aed089c14d Faulting application path: G:\BOINC\boinc.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\vrfcore.dll Report Id: c45916a4-90a2-11e2-b0ae-002683131593 This is a desktop computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit with SP1 and 8GB RAM (I also have Ubuntu 64 bit installed); the CPU is an Intel quad core i5-2500K @ 3.30GHz; graphics card is a GeForce GTX 560 Ti. Computing is allowed whilst the computer is in use, same for the GPU. Uses at most 75% of processors and 100% CPU time. Application switch is every 15 minutes. BOINC projects are: ABC@home rosetta@home climateprediction.net Einstein@Home orbit@home QMC@HOME SETI@home Enigma@Home GPUGRID but I can't say which were executing at the moment of failure. Any suggestions would be very welcome. |

We're busy getting a new recommended client out, although it's still in testing. You can try the latest alpha though, hot off the press, boinc_7.0.58_windows_intelx86.exe. It has some fixes towards crashing of the client. But I do wonder if it isn't to do with your Windows 32bit running with 8GB of RAM. Weird things happen when you do that. The vrfcore.dll mentioned in your crash log is part of the Windows Application Verifier program. Did you ever download and install this? You may want to uninstall it first. |

No, I assumed vrfcore.dll was just part of the standard BOINC installation. |

No, it isn't. BOINC its parts are only written to the BOINC Programs directory, bar boinc.scr which is written to C:\Windows\ |

You're got one of the Disk and memory usage settings set too low, and your projects have filled the allowed space, without log entries from the Event Log, we'd be just guessing which one is causing it, please restart Boinc and post the first 30 lines or so, and post the following three settings from your computing preferences: Disk: use at most 10 GB Claggy |
