Glad it's not just me- I swapped ISPs last night (wish i'd done it years ago) and the new ISP supports TCP/IPv6, and i was worried it might be related to that. My error message- ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED Grant Darwin NT. |

Just checking in to see if it was just me. Guess not. I was thinking of giving Eric a call just to touch base, I haven't talked with him since last summer. This must be a sign. |

Yes. The main site is incommunicado presently. Glad this end is still online. |

Thanks Carlos - I just ask that you are gentle with him (as I'm sure you will be). |

SETI did work for a short period. Now, though, it's indeed dead again. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED |

I've finally gotten an answer from Eric: We had some unauthorized access to the machines through a user account whose password hadn't been changed in 20 years (and was probably reused on other sites that had had data breaches). For unrelated reasons we aren't able to start an audit of the website security before 5/26, so the safest action was to bring it down until we can do so. |

At least we know why, and keeping our fingers crossed for a successful audit |

In reply to Jord's message of 20 May 2026: I've finally gotten an answer from Eric:It must have been more than a simple user account, to be able to access the site in a malicious way. Or perhaps there was a security issue with the site, making it possible to hack it, through a simple user account. |

In reply to Jord's message of 20 May 2026: If things become difficult there is a chance I may decide to keep it down.It would be a real shame if it were to end that way. Grant Darwin NT. |
