After the big fish that ate our little company changed our router so now things are faster but (among other things) Google now thinks I'm in Canada (where corporate the HQ is)), and BOINC (which I have been running for years and years) suddenly cannot report any results or get any new work. And the message in the log ("Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable" for all projects) is pretty much useless. I found boinctrace and tried to use it to figure out why. (I had to fix a couple of things in the batch file and tried to return the favor and contact the author as listed in the source but the email bounces.) Once I fixed those, I was able to run the script and everything seems OK up until: Pinging to find black holes. Pinging setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu [208.68.240.20] with 1472 bytes of data: Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. That may, of course, have nothing to do with why things stopped working, but it is at least a place to start. If I reduce the specified packet size, it passes. I Google'd that error and BOINC but, of course, all the hits were on the SETI site, which is currently down - or at least it tells me that it is down. And I couldn't find any way to tell BOINC to use smaller packets or allow fragmentation or anything like that. And, of course, it is not customer related or even work related so IT is not interested in helping (or probably worse) and they would be even less interested in any suggestions I might have for configuration changes or ports or anything that starts with "Try" or "Change" this... Anyone have any thoughts? [Start of boinctrace isues] Thanks for the bat file... it is a lost art. 1) getting the default IP from ipconfig /all fails because the IP address [now?] starts in column 39, not 44. 2) tracert [now?] wants the "-h 50" to PRECEDE the target name or it gives you the help text [End of boinctrace isues] |
