I have just done a fresh installation of Fedora 16. I've installed boinc and got it running and logging into my projects, BUT, the only project that seems to run OK is Seti. Climate prediction and Einstein both download work units, and when they start to run immediately finish with computation error showing in the GUI, but no extra details in the log, e.g. 15-Dec-2011 12:21:29 [climateprediction.net] Finished download of hadcm3_ss_290_3.png 15-Dec-2011 12:23:15 [climateprediction.net] Finished download of oxi.addfa.gz 15-Dec-2011 12:23:16 [climateprediction.net] Starting task hadam3p_saf_7eca_2006_1_007575523_2 using hadam3p_saf version 609 15-Dec-2011 12:23:17 [climateprediction.net] Computation for task hadam3p_saf_7eca_2006_1_007575523_2 finished

An upgrade from what to Fedora 16? Which BOINC? Where did you get it from? 32bit or 64bit? What does it say on any of the erred tasks? Give a link to any of them in your tasks list at the project. |

Thanks for the reply. It was a fresh install of Fedora 16, on a new disk. I had previously been using Fedora 14, but all that system was/is lost. I have a complete new system. I got Boinc from the Fedora repositories. The los starts off like this ...

Now, it shouldn't be necessary for Einstein, but I think it still is for CPDN... did you install the 32/64bit compatibility libs? See http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_BOINC#64_Bit_Considerations for which files that are for Fedora |

Thanks for the reply. I have just added those libraries and it seems to have made no difference. I have reached my daily quota on Einstein, but Climate Prediction gives me this... http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=13782812 Looks like a shared libraries problem still. I'll plod away until I've fixed it. Maybe I need to reboot or run ldconfig or something. Thanks for the pointer as to where to look for the problem. Mike |

Thanks for the replies. I just kept adding the 32-bit libraries until Climate Prediction was happy. I had an old hard-drive with them on, just copied them across into /lib or /usr/lib as appropriate. Then I told Einstein to accept more work units and I'm pleased to say it gave no further errors. I hadn't appreciated that the applications between projects were so different. At least with your help I've managed to get it all going again. Thanks. |
