Hi. I mistakenly attached a project (Cosmology@Home) which does not run on Mac. Now I cannot detach it, as the Detach button is greyed out in the BOINC manager. I downloaded the Grid Republic manager but it was not different (and when I uninstalled Grid Republic, BOINC itself got uninstalled too so I had to download it anew, and apparently my account here got deleted too because I was unable to log in without recreating my account just now!) I would like a solution that is not likely to result in any more messy side effects. Also, the BOINC manager is not showing me an option to Attach any new projects! Where should I be seeing that option? My BOINC version: 6.10.58 for Mac My system: 2009 MacBook Pro running "Snow Leopard" OS Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,2 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 6 MB Memory: 4 GB Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz |

Hi. I mistakenly attached a project (Cosmology@Home) which does not run on Mac. Now I cannot detach it, as the Detach button is greyed out in the BOINC manager. Select the project in the Projects tab (Advanced view), which will activate the buttons on the left, or right click on its little icon in Simple View and choose remove. However... I downloaded the Grid Republic manager If you attached to Cosmo through GridRepublic, you aill have to detach from the project through GP. apparently my account here got deleted too because I was unable to log in without recreating my account just now! If you never made an account here, then it wouldn't have been made ever. And unless your former name and profile showed you were a definite spammer, your account wouldn't have been deleted. You'll have to make an account at each project you go to and want to participate in. Attaching to a project will make an account for you. These however are the BOINC (Development) forums. You cannot attach to anything here, so any account has to be made by hand. The email address is the unique identifier. Also, the BOINC manager is not showing me an option to Attach any new projects! Where should I be seeing that option? Tools->Attach to project or account manager.. |

Thank you for trying to help. In Advanced view, the Detach option is greyed out in Projects ; in the Simple view, right-click on the Cosmo icon does not bring up a removal or detach option. I attempted to remove Cosmology@Home at the Grid Republic website, but I had only used Grid Republic to sign up for projects on my other computer, and the settings there do not seem to apply to this one. Removing Cosmo there did not allow me to Detach it from this computer. Please, what is GP? |

In the mean time, Cosmo continues to sit on my BOINC project list excluding other projects from using its designated share of the resources. |

Exit BOINC (BOINC Manager, Advanced View->File->Exit, check "Stop running science applications when exiting Manager"->Click OK) Navigate to your BOINC Data directory. Default at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\ for Windows 2000 and XP; C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ for Windows Vista and Windows 7; elsewhere if you put it elsewhere. Find the file called account_www.cosmologyathome.org.xml, select it and delete it. Restart BOINC. You've detached from Cosmo. GP was a typo for GR, the abbreviation of GridRepublic. |
