What is WU status "Abandoned" (apparently from the new server release)? Is it analagous to the old "Client detached"?

In July I started an email thread on BOINC Dev about keeping things simple. Somewhere around this time the change was made, even though I cannot for the life of me find its changeset in the repository.

However, referencing Joe Segur's email on BOINC Dev, for August 12th;

Still, it would be good if there were a
practical way to only resend those which won't greatly exceed the
amount of work time being requested, and transition the others to the
"Abandoned" state which is the replacement for "Client detached".

So the change was already made there. As far as I understand, it's become abandoned as people didn't understand what "client detached" meant.

To know the exact how, why, someone best email David about it.
