A stolen laptop has been found with the help of BOINC.

At least one stolen laptop crunching Seti was found in a similar way. In many ways crunching a Boinc project can be better than an insurance policy. I don't recommend abandoning insurance but it's far more satisfying to recover the actual computer and for the police to find the thieves.
