I get really confused now, so I try to ask here. I recently installed the boinc client on my laptop (64bit Arch Linux) and on my desktop at work (32bit Arch Linux). On my laptop things seem to work fine. On my desktop however, the boinc client seems to completely ignore the preferences that I have set. I have set it to not run while I'm working, and to only work from 18:00 in the evening to 09:00 in the morning. It still runs jobs all the time. I even closed the boinc client (meaning the daemon should quit as well), but it still decided to run tasks while I was working, which was outside of the designated time spot I have set. In the log on my laptop I see stuff like "suspended, user is active" and so on, but in the log on my desktop the only thing I've seen is "network traffic suspended, user is active". Could anyone point me to what I might be doing wrong? I really want to help out with the projects, but I need to work on my work computer during working hours.. :) |

OKOK, I feel really stupid for finding the solution so quickly after posting, but anyway. What I did wrong *hitting my head*, was to not discover the options in the "Activity" menu. Of course my desktop was set to "Run Always", whereas my laptop was set to "Run based on preferences". Now things are working. Honestly, I was searching for this for hours before asking! It is not that obvious (to me) that this option would be somewhere. Intuitively when I set preferences they are used.. I think. |
