hi, i've been running boinc for quite some time at work and have recently been told that it has to stop (too much band width usage you know). i was wondering if there were some way to download work units from home, bring to work, crunch there, then upload them via the home network? possible? i'm running seti and rosetta. thanks, scott |

For all of BOINC and the projects running under it, there's these set of rules and policies you have to follow. Number one is to "Run BOINC only on computers that you own, or for which you have obtained the owner's permission." Your boss told you to stop. But you want to continue anyway? Despite the consequences when found out (people have been fired over it and worse)? Why don't you run BOINC from home? It is possible to do what you want, but before I even go that far to explain how, I want that permission problem out of the way first. |

hi, thanks for your response. use of the computer(s) has never been a problem. the recent abuse of the internet where i work has been. too much streaming radio, yahoo during work hours, people watching cartoons, youtube, gaming, etc. i'm not concerned about getting canned because i know that won't happen. in this environment that we are in i would not hesitate on this. that said, i'd still be interested in knowing how to accomplish this. by the way, i'm under windows xp sp3. thanks, scott |
