msattler, msattler, It would be just quicker asking him, than going through his 18,000 posts, ;) I think he had to use a splitter cable on the way to the KVM switch, with a dummy plug on one end, Claggy |

I didn't extend the monitors after I used the KVM! Now done. So the KVM is sort of working; Unfortunately I am only seeing 3 of the 4 cards in Boic, but that is better than 2. The monitor display is a bit pale and greenish, not good, but usable for now. I have Vista, so its, Right Click on the desktop, Personalize, Display Settings (for anyone else with this problem). Then choose the card and extend the monitor. Display Settings lists 7 cards! (Device Manager is correctly showing the 4 GT240's). So, in Display Settings there are, Four of - (Default Monitor) on NVIDIA GeForce GT 240, and three - Generic non plug and play Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 I guess the 3 generic devices are the ones that Boinc can see. Perhaps the KVM cable to the other card is an issue, I will check it again, reboot... Thanks, |

Hi there guys, I have a slightly different problem with regards to two cards that I was hoping you could help me with. I'm using the cc_config setup that Gundolf Jahn has shown and plugging a dvi to vga connector into my second graphics card and then a vga cable into the spare port on my hd monitor. YAY both cards are working in boinc now... but here's the problem: BOINC - 6.10.58 Win 7 Latest Nvidia drivers GTX 480 - main card compute capability 2.0 GTS 250 - secondary card compute capability 1.1 I believe im receiving errors when the second card tries to do work units its not capable of. Is there any way of fixing this??? Perhaps by telling it to only work on certain files??? I'm running seti, milkyway, lhc and Einstein. Its einstein that is posting the most errors and usually after 2-3 seconds of the card starting the WU. Now I guess i could leave it and just waste the bandwith but wont the einstein servers crack the shits if i keep posting errors??? Thanks for all your help, Ace. |

... Indeed, if this is your computer. The Maximum daily WU quota per CPU is down to 1/day (minimum). The CUDA tasks that error out all get [12:59:22][932][INFO ] Using CUDA device #1 "GeForce GTS 250" (705.02 GFLOPS) ... [12:59:23][932][ERROR] Error executing CUDA FFT plan (error code: 6) [12:59:23][932][ERROR] Demodulation failed (error: 1012)!That might be caused by the different compute capabilities. BOINC does handle all GPU devices the same, namely as the most powerful one. I think there is no way to direct different types of tasks to specific devices. Gruß, Gundolf [edit]If Einstein is the only project that causes errors on the GTS 250, you could disable the usage of (both!) CUDA devices in your Einstein@Home preferences.[/edit] |

Thanks for the input, not getting as many errors now, I think its somehow learning not to give those work units to that card... that or the einstein server HAS cracked the shits with me and isnt giving me ANY of those WU's ?????? On another card issue, I have a second pc with a gts 250 in it, is it worth buying an ATI card for Milkyway instead??? if so which one is best for the price??? |
