Since upgrading MAC OS to Snow Leopard, when I click on the BOINC icon in the Menu Bar, nothing happens. I can still run BOINC from the dock. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do? Is there, perhaps, a preference file that I should try zapping?

Which BOINC version? Any of the 6.10 versions?
Coming from which Mac OSX? And you did reinstall BOINC after upgrading the OS, right?
