I am running Snow Leopard and just downloaded Boinc. when I try to set the screen saver to Boinc I get this message: "You cannot use the BOINC screen saver on this computer." Any ideas??

This is a Snow Leopard shortcoming. It has broken all working screen savers, not only BOINC's.

BOINC 6.10 will have the fix for that. It's still a development version, although rather stable for the Mac. You can get it from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php
