I am also using BAM. Boinc will stop working, CPU usage back to high IDE. WU or messages will not be shown. Even restart Boinc. Have to restart the machine to solve this problem. |

So let's wait for Windows 7 to be released, before trying to tackle these things. Between RCs and the final product a lot of things can change and if the developers would spend time now to try to get Boinc to work, they may have to do that all over again when the final product is here. It happened before with Vista. When you want to run a release candidate of an OS, you have to know that some things don't work until the final product is available. And else, if you truly want to know why it's happening, that you will have to give a lot more information. With what you gave, neither the Boinc developers nor the helpers can't work out what could be causing this. Complete system information. Event Viewer and BOINC Manager logs. Does it do it without BAM? Does it do it with GridRepublic (if you want to use an AM anyway)? Screengrabs of Task Manager showing what may happen. How did you install BOINC? How many tasks are in it? Is a GPU used for crunching? If yes, what kind? etc. |

Hmm, I'd buy that except in that Win7 is largely Vista. I'm running Win7 RC (7100) 64 bit with BOINC 6.6.36 for 64 bit. Running Seti@Home and Einstein@Home at 50/50 split. Intel Q9650 processor w/ 4 GB RAM. No GPU usage. I'm seeing the same problem, except I can add information: - after a few days of runtime there are about 35+ orphaned "conhost.exe" and a similar number of "einstein..." processes (no Seti). When it gets to this point, CPU drops to zero and no further work is done. - exiting BOINC leaves these processes running, so killing them manually or a reboot is necessary. - killing them manually (task manager) allows BOINC to move on to other work. - nothing apparently related in the sys/app event logs. - didn't see any BOINC logs - where are they? - looking at job properties in BM, there is a State of "computation error". I don't know what BAM is, so I assume I'm not running it. |

That is odd, are you running Cuda? Win7-Test This host ran Seti while 7000 beta & currently finishing off some Einstein wu's with 7100 RC before returning to Seti. It's Win7 32bit, 4gb ram, AMD X4 9600 & Boinc 6.6.36. Asides from a couple of errors on initial rollout (my end & not the project's), been having no problems to date. |
