Hello, For three weeks I am trying to transfer my seti account to BOINC and it simple won't work. The url for Seti that is given by BOINC isn't recognised. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I have been in Seti for many many years and don't wish to stop. Greetings, Joop. |

I have been using "http://setiathome.berkeley.edu" I was unsuccessful using the account manager in boincmgr so I went to the url directly and set up my account. The when I "attach to project" it went through the first time. This also works for roestta@home url. Sincerely, Clare Hello, |

This question should be addressed at the SETI forums as it is a SETI/BOINC issue and not a BOINC issue. I know there are threads there that give instructions on how to solve your problem. See SETI forum for more info. |

To ask a question on the seti forum I need credits. I don't know if I have credits or where to find them. Where do I see "attach to project" in my seti account. My pc worked for 17000 hours on over 2000 units in Seti. I hope I don't have to stop because of this. The last error report was return value 500. Greetings, Joop. |

To ask a question on the seti forum I need credits. That is only for the Message Boards; you can ask questions in Q&A. Where do I see "attach to project" in my seti account. In BOINC Manager's "Projects" menu; do NOT use "account manager", it doesn't work. My pc worked for 17000 hours on over 2000 units in Seti. I hope I don't have to stop because of this. I'm sure your SETI Classic results are in your SETI account. Have you activated your account on the SETI site? Have you set a password? Those are the first steps that you must take. The URL for the connection will be in the email you receive, but it is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu as has been said. You are not creating a _new_ account - you are activating the one they have already created for you based on the SETI Classic information. The last error report was return value 500. If this was before yesterday, SETI was down. If it was today, there are several threads on "500" errors that you can look at - every situation is different. Have the errors from your Messages tab ready to paste in, and pick whichever Q&A area is right for your OS, or look in the "Getting Started" section. |

Joop - I was having the same problem -- the URL wasn't being "recognized as a BOINC-based project". It IS a BOINC issue, not a SETI issue, and I believe we stumbled upon a "new" bug. To fix it: 1. Uninstall BOINC. 2. Go to My Computer > Local Disk C: > Program Files and manually delete the BOINC folder. 3. Restart your machine. 4. Download and install the BOINC software. 5. Enter the URL(s) of the project(s) to which you want to attach and it should proceed correctly, continuing to email/password screen. Good luck! John |
