Does the Boinc stop the simulation when a computer is on battery power?

Yes, if you have that option set in your preferences, and you use Run based on preferences

When I'm on battery power and BOINC pauses, the pause icon isn't appearing over the program icon in the system tray. I suppose this is by design, but it would be less confusing if I could easily tell it had correctly paused like it's supposed to.
