HI, I installed version 5.10.45 version of BOINC last month, which says that it is the 64 bit version. The problem is that if it were actually the 64 bit version, Windows Vista would fire it up automatically. But it doesn't. It lodges the application down in the system tray saying that it can't start it up and I have to manually start up BOINC, just the same as I had to do for the 32 bit version. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this really not a 64 bit application as it says it is? Dale |

... What leads you to the assumption that Vista won't block a program, only because it is a 64-bit version? |

As Task Manager shows (Win2003 Server) x64 version of BOINC client is 64-bit app. |

HI, It shows up in the system tray because it's a non-service application that starts at windows startup, and requires admin privileges. Part of the security model Microsoft applied to Vista is that standard apps needing this level of access must have user permission to run. It has nothing to do with 64/non-64 bit anything. Side note: The 64 bit version is, as mentioned previously, 64 bit - check to see where it installed...if it's in the "Program Files" directory then it's a 64-bit app, if it's in the "Program Files (x86)" directory then it's not a 64 bit app, and you downloaded the wrong version. Hope this helps. |

The science app is 32 bit. BOINC itself is 64 bit. You'll need to take it up with the Rosetta folks. Kathryn :o) |

((((((( it's stil x86 (((((((( BOINC is 64-bit. Do you see * 32 next to boinc.exe? Rosetta is 32-bit. That's not BOINC's problem. |
