I recently upgraded BOINC from 5.10.14 to 5.10.45. At work I have dual monitors and the screen saver that I get on both monitors is the BOINC icon symbol with the project name and work done below it. Is there a way of getting back the display I get when I press the "show graphics" icon under the Tasks tab? TIA. . .George :-) |

How many video cards do you have, or if only one, how many RAMDACs does the card have? I ask as the screen saver is OpenGL 1.1 compliant, which on its own cannot show the screen saver on multiple monitors, unless you have multiple video cards (one for each monitor) or multiple RAMDACs (also one for each monitor). Not all projects have a screen saver, so which project are you talking about? |

In the office, I have 2 video cards. The projects that I run that usually a screen saver is SETI, Climate Control, Rosetta, Einstein, World Community Grid and QMC. The only project that I run that doesn't have a screen saver is ABC. TIA. . .George :-) |

Thanks for that. Reasons why the screen saver will only show the BOINC logo and progress, or a black screen are: 1. You installed BOINC as a service and did not use the workaround to get them going again. 2. You installed as a shared user option and are using BOINC with another account. Only the account that installed BOINC has the graphics and screen saver, the other gets the text screen only. 3. You use a password protected screen saver. Use this workaround to get things functioning again. Other possibilities are out of date video card drivers or out of date DirectX. Does any of this help? |

As it turned out number three was the winner. I unchecked the On resume, password protect and that did the trick. Thanks...George :-) |
