Message boards : BOINC Manager : Cannot connect to Localhost

Hi I can't connect to Localhost. In the lower left of the BOINC it reads, "Connecting to localhost" and then a minute later it reads "Disconnected" and there is an error message that states, "BOINC Manager -Connection Failed. BOINC Manager is not able to connect to a BOINC client. Would you like to try again?" Trying again repeats the same error. This happened suddenly after a year of good operating. Here using a MAC with 10.5.2 (Leopard). Using BOINC Manager 5.4.9. The MAC recently performed an update to SAFARI but I don't know if that is connected to the problem as I wasn't watching BOINC all that closely. Please help David |

Please update to a much later version of BOINC that has this problem fixed. 5.10.45 is the latest flavor. |

Thanks the update fixed the problem. I was surprised that such a computer smart program as BOINC didn't check for updates automatically. David |

Actually, it does. But that was also only introduced in a version after yours. When a newer version of BOINC comes out, you'll be notified about it in the Messages log. |
