There are two main alternatives - assuming that you have run_client: * Can you use a manager on a different machine to control it? (You'll need to set up the remote auth stuff). * Use the command-line interface (boinc_cmd or boinccmd, I think you need to specify --help to get the list of commands). |

Hi, There are no problems with Boinc on VMware. I don't know which version from VM-player or which virtual appliances you have downloaded. Normally you will find some help for using in description or man-pages or a link for help from author of your virtual appliance. If you find or get no informations, set up your own Crunching-VM but with VM-Workstation or VM-server. Workstation costs 189$ or 140Eur, Server is free but you need a serial number therfor you have to registrate. ![]() |

Running on a VM has absolutely nothing to do. Did you get the "Older Linux x86 and x64" version, or the one with 'ubuntu' on its filename? The former doesn't come with the manager. |

Does anybody have a link to both appliances. I had set up a netinstall-version from Suse64-10.2 with kernel 2.6.18 in a 5GB VM and want to try out a newer kernel or better an other distro for comparison. FC8 or K/Ubuntu would be interesting. ![]() |
