Hello,

I am running BOINC with SETI WU's.

Lately the processing time of one WU was about 4 hrs for the largest WU. Recently this time has gone up to 8 hrs per WU. My processors are GenuineIntel
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz [Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11] so I would expect a much faster time than this.

Any ideas what could be the cause of the increase?

Seti has varying task lengths. Some have a deadline of several days with a run time of less than an hour on top machines. Others have a deadline of several months with a run time of several hours on the same top machine.
Best ask about this in detail on the Seti Number Crunching forums, they're better equipped to handle your query.

It's got nothing to do with BOINC. BOINC doesn't crunch.
