I have searched the forums with different phrases and not found this issue. Forgive me if I have overlooked an existing thread. I have a wu from sah that says "waiting for memory" , I have prefs both local and with BAM! set to not leave things in memory while suspended. This wu is about to pass its date so I have suspended all other tasks to force boinc to compute this wu. when I do so sah grabs a new wu instead of continuing the old one. What is causing the refusal of this wu to continue? I have restarted the core client and gui. I have restarted the computer. No difference. The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory. --Paul Fix ![]() |

How much memory do you have in that system? Waiting for memory means that BOINC has not found enough memory for this application to continue. Check your memory settings as well. There's this new setting to use x% of memory when the computer is in use and when idle. Make sure they are set up correctly. |

How much memory do you have in that system? 512MB I have -never- seen this in the years I have run boinc. As I pointed out , it immediately grabs another wu for sah and -it- runs. I have Einstein as well, it runs fine when it is its turn. Just this wu from sah is "waiting for memory". This wu is mostly computed so I don't want to abort it if I can avoid it. The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory. --Paul Fix ![]() |

I understand, but I don't know if there are different tasks at Seti these days with different memory needs. You'll have to ask about that on the Seti forums. The "waiting for memory" message was introduced with 5.8.16, if I am not mistaken. Otherwise an early 5.10 You may want to check how much memory you still have left in Task Manager. |
