Hey there. This is probably an easy question to answer for most of you...but it's fustrating the heck out of me! A few days ago my boinc client decided to not download any new tasks from the different projects i'm running.. or not download enough of them.. maybe one or two. I downloaded the lastest version of the software 5.10.28 and there is still no improvement. I've checked all the websites of the projects i'm running and they have tons of workunits to go out. I've checked the messages on the client.. all of them say scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks. it looks as though everything is ok but something is definitly not right. Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening and how i can fix it? any help would be great. thanks! -Dan [email protected] |

Your BOINC probably has enough work on hand for now. How many WUs do you have, and what are their deadlines? And DON'T put your email address in posts. That's a good way to attract the attention of spammers. |

right now i only have 6 workunits.. 3 from poem@home, 2 from enigma@home, and 1 from rosetta@home. all with due dates of 12/18-12/21. but just last week i had a ton of workunits.. all from ufluids, spinhenge, lhc, world community grid..not to mention a lot more from the ones i have now. it was great. this is nothing though.. my computer is going to blow right through these |

I've also got BOINC v. 5.10.28. My messages also say things like 14/12/2007 11:02:51|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request: To send trickle-up message. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks 14/12/2007 11:02:56|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks The wording of the messages gives the impression that Boinc is trying and failing to get extra work from this project for me. But I have the project set to No New Work because the current task will take at least a month to complete. I'm not really sure why in this version of BOINC new tasks are mentioned at all when none are being requested. In my view the impression given by Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks is misleading. The request wasn't for new tasks, it was to send a trickle. When I first got this BOINC version I had to reread such messages several times to make sure they meant that the trickle-ups had been successful. |

That said, I've always missed a log line that records the Acknowledgements. Reporting tasks, it simple flashes across the screen never to be seen again, unless visiting the result status pages. Well no, that's that reporting part in the line: 14-Dec-07 17:19:32|Enigma@Home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 1 completed tasks |

That line gets created irrespective of the reporting being successful or not.... I don't agree. If the reporting isn't successful you get a further error message. For example: 14-Dec-2007 08:27:26 [Enigma@Home] Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 1 completed tasks 14-Dec-2007 08:27:31 [---] Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 14-Dec-2007 08:27:31 [Enigma@Home] Scheduler request failed: Couldn't resolve host name 14-Dec-2007 08:27:31 [Enigma@Home] [sched_op_debug] Deferring communication for 1 min 0 sec 14-Dec-2007 08:27:31 [Enigma@Home] [sched_op_debug] Reason: scheduler request failed 14-Dec-2007 08:27:32 [---] Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. |
