I have 2 Ubuntu instances on two different drives within a single machine (one 64bit, one 32bit). Basically I've been running 32bit for a while but want to move towards 64 bit Ubuntu. As a part of testing it I'd like, when I boot to either system, to work on the same project files. Is this possible? If so how? |

Application temporary files aren't guaranteed to be compatible between platforms. You could have the files get corrupted or the workunits crash if you move them to another platform. |

If your 64-bit Ubuntu is set up so that you can run 32-bit applications, then you should be able to run the same BOINC instance in either of your Ubuntus. Just run 32-bit BOINC under either bitness ... Metod ... ![]() |

I have been wondering about sharing the files between Linux and XP on my dual boot Laptop. With both being 32-bit on a 32-bit cpu, is this cool, or do the to platforms make different format files? It will be a dedicated vfat partition. The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory. --Paul Fix ![]() |

You can't tell. It's completely up to the project to make the files compatible between platforms or not. |

This may be true of the data files, however the executables will not be compatable. It would not work anyway, when the client noticed the switch between platforms it would reset all projects.
