I'm running Boinc 5.10.28 on a Windows Vista home professional system. If I have tasks running and try to restart my system, it will hang for a couple minutes then blue screen. If I suspend all the tasks first or exit the manager, the system restarts normally. This behaviour started after the latest upgrade to Boinc. Has anyone else seen this?

What are the CPU temperatures like when you are running Boinc? It might be overheating.

If it is suspended on restart, but then you start boinc running after a while, is it OK, or does it crash again?

I'm new to Vista, how can you determine the CPU temps?

Boinc has never crashed my system (Dell Inspiron E1705, Intel dual core, 4GB RAM) until I try to shutdown or restart. During the shutdown/restart process is when it hangs then blue screens but only if tasks are running in the boinc manager.

What does the Blue Screen say?

Did you allow for Windows fast shutdown to go a bit slower?
See this FAQ.

No version of Windows has ever included any tool to see system temperatures. Try SpeedFan (click on the "The latest version is SpeedFan 4.33" link).

It's probably not related to CPU temp given the clarification on the 23rd (happening on system shutdown).
