Used to be I could set usage to 50% and 1 processor, and my machine would run both processors (dual core) at 50%, keeping the fans at low speed. Lately, several weeks anyway, boinc starts up at 50% on both processors, but the usage jumps to 100% overnight (based on task manager graphs), and the fans are at full speed when I come in in the morning. Something changed, but I don't know what. My settings are still at use 1 processor and 50%. I've tried update from Einstein @ home and SETI @ home, but that didn't help.

Any idea what is going on?

Boinc 5.10.7, WinXP SP2, Core 2 Duo
