I have a little problem. I run then Boinc 5.8.15 on a
computer with a cable modem. I use SETTING "Run Always"+"Network Always Available". That is OK.

Now, occationally I power down the screen and also the cable modem. The Boinc don't like this, and will (when needed) try to reconnect to network. Meanwhile the computation still run. Lots of error messages produced. Still, it is OK.

I then, after some hours, reconnect the cable modem.
After a while, the Internet connection come back on line. Every net application will then come back on-line, except the Boinc, that fail to reconnect to the network. Waiting some hours won't slove this problem; The Boinc retry each 60 seconds, and cannot connect.

The reson I bother you all is that the following trick solve the problem:
Stopp the Boinc manager completely, and then restart with "Start"/"Program"/"Autostart"/"Boinc Manager".

The server will hold back communicaton a while, and the Boinc, without any problem, now report Work Units and also possibly fetch more work.

Please Help Me: Can the code for "Retry a connection" include some part of code, that is run, when the Boinc first connect; as this works and not the other version ???

This is a reproduciable problem, that occurs always, and the "Restart" solution also aways work.

The latest version of the client should behave better in this situation. I expect what is happening is that you are getting a new IP address when you turn the modem back on and BOINC still has the old one cached. The 5.10.x clients do not hold the IP address as long.

Hi! It is me again!
I am so sorry, but unfortunately I am now confident that also the BOINC 5.10.13 have this problem. The reason, why I bother you all with this, is that restarting the BOINC solve my communication problem.
Possibly closing the connection, and unloading a DLL, and backing off, could solve the problem.

I run a 2.66M XP SP2.
