My BOINC doesn't seem to honor the "do work after idle for..." preference. No matter what I set it at, it always runs a process in "sleeping" mode & "nice=19" which nevertheless keeps the CPU cranking at 100% & uses tens of MB of memory. However, when I hit the "pause" button in the manager UI, the usage does in fact stop. Is the "not working while not idle" reflected in the sleeping & nice modes? If so, why does it still use the cpu & memory? I'm on Ubuntu Linux 7.04. -Thx |

I'm assuming (yeah dangerous, I know) that the Linux manager is fairly similar to the Windows manager. In the advanced GUI (the one with the tabs), there is an activity drop down menu. Make sure it's set to run based on preferences. If it is, then check your general preferences under your account on the web. Remember if you have to change them, you'll have to update the project through the GUI. Also, if using a 5.8.x core client, make sure you haven't customized preferences for the computer locally. That would have been accessed through the advanced drop down menu in the advanced GUI and the Preferences button in the simple GUI. Kathryn :o) |

If it is, then check your general preferences under your account on the web. Ah, I wasn't aware of those prefs, I only saw the local ones. Looks like that worked, thanks! 8) |
