hej there, someone running in the same error message like me? Starting the boinc client on the command line brings: ./boinc: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by ./boinc) Obiously there is a query for glibc 2.4, but in debian etch and sid only 2.3.6 is available. Seems to be a bug, doesn't it? |

(I know next to nothing about BOINC/Linux aside from what I read on the alpha lists...) That said, I believe 5.8.17 was complied with (against?) a newer version of glibc. I saw various reports of failures with older systems. But 5.8.15 shouldn't fail (in theory....) The core client was compiled with GCC 4.1 which should improve the benchmarks. (and feel free to laugh at me if I'm a total idiot, it won't be the first time) Kathryn :o) |

<<someone running in the same error message like me?>> Yes and not yet found the solution - boinc worked fine under KUBUNTU but I've just trashed that installing MEPIS, hence the error. Greg |

<<someone running in the same error message like me?>> Try an older version of BOINC. You can pull all the versions from 4.x on from here. AFAIK, the only difference between 5.8.16 and 5.8.17 is the complier used. But to be safe, you can pull 5.4.11 from here. Kathryn :o) |

I seem to have it working now, despite the message (in the boinc manager's simple view) that says "error - No work available to process". I got boinc working by trying to add a project, despite the errors, and it has worked for some 15 hours now, reporting results. Maybe the problem is just with the GUI front end and not with the workings of BOINC? Hence, I haven't followed Kathryn's advice (thanks) to use an older version. My unintentional switch from KUBUNTU to MEPIS has caused bigger problems that need to be addressed! Greg |
