You can find some details here If the list shows a particular operating system isn't supported, then it will need some form of virtualisation to run on a different OS. I am not sure if any project actually requires docker yet but am sure that will come. I don't know if there are other projects apart from CPDN that sometimes have tasks for one OS and sometimes another. (All the most recent ones have been Linux so need either WSL, VB or another way of running a virtual machine from Windows.)

Edit:CPDN in theory still supports MacOS. However it has been a long time since there were last any tasks for it and they required the OS version before Mac stopped supporting 32bit applications.

I maintain a comprehensive BOINC project list here, and I've just updated the old "VirtualBox" column to a more general "Requires" column to help with this request.
The columns are sortable, making it easy to see which projects need extra software or hardware at a glance.
