Is a 64bit cpu faster than a 32bit cpu?
On the other hand, do I need to use a 64bit version of OS?

64 bit OS on 64 bit hardware is faster if you have 64 bit apps. In practice 32 bit apps running 64 bit environment tend to run slightly slower.

If you have a 32-bit OS on a 64-bit CPU, it's as if you had a 32-bit CPU. There is no way apps can take advantage of it.

64 bit apps can be faster than 32 bit apps if they properly take the advantage of the wider data path for data processing.

64 bit apps can be slower than 32 bit apps because of the longer instructions (depends on the CPU architecture).

You have to try out.
