v8.2.4(x64) Windows 11 Desktop I have been unable to get work for the Rosetta project and Science United for months now. I have reset the projects, deleted them and re-added them to no avail. It will connect but won't retrieve any work. This is what Science United keeps sending me: Greetings from Science United. Your computers haven't reported work in the last 7 days. For details, visit Science United. Your computer 'Library' contacted us today. Please check that the latest version of BOINC is installed, unsuspended, and attached to Science United. Get help here. Thanks for participating in Science United. I did everything they suggested. When I try to manually connect to Rosetta or Science United it connects and then suspends the connection. One of the error messages in the log says that my preferences are set not to accept GPU tasks. I have set preferences to use the web preferences, not a local override file. When I look in the local file there is not option to allow GPU tasks. 10/19/2025 8:34:26 AM | Rosetta@home | Fetching scheduler list 10/19/2025 8:34:27 AM | Rosetta@home | Master file download succeeded 10/19/2025 8:34:32 AM | Rosetta@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 10/19/2025 8:34:32 AM | Rosetta@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU 10/19/2025 8:34:33 AM | Rosetta@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 10/19/2025 8:34:33 AM | Rosetta@home | Server error: feeder not running 10/19/2025 8:34:33 AM | Rosetta@home | Project requested delay of 3600 seconds 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | Computing prefs: from https://scienceunited.org/ (last modified 03-May-2021 06:35:43) 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | Computing prefs: computer location unspecified; using default 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | Reading preferences override file 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | Computing preferences: 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - When computer is in use 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - 'In use' means mouse/keyboard input in last 3.00 minutes 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - max CPUs used: 10 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - Use at most 100% of the CPU time 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - suspend if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 25% 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - max memory usage: 7.87 GB 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - When computer is not in use 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - max CPUs used: 10 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - Use at most 100% of the CPU time 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - suspend if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 25% 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - max memory usage: 14.16 GB 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - Suspend if running on batteries 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - Leave apps in memory if not running 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - Store at least 0.10 days of work 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - Store up to an additional 0.50 days of work 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - max disk usage: 744.75 GB 10/19/2025 8:34:38 AM | | - (to change preferences, visit a project web site or select 'Options / Computing preferences...' in the Manager) 10/18/2025 2:09:49 PM | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 10/18/2025 2:09:49 PM | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks sent 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Help Stop TB 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Mapping Cancer Markers 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for OpenPandemics - COVID 19 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for OpenPandemics - COVID-19 - GPU 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Smash Childhood Cancer 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | Tasks for NVIDIA GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | Tasks for AMD/ATI GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | Tasks for Intel GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them 10/18/2025 2:09:51 PM | World Community Grid | Project requested delay of 121 seconds 10/18/2025 2:34:04 PM | | Windows is suspending operations 10/18/2025 2:34:04 PM | | Suspending computation - requested by operating system 10/18/2025 2:34:04 PM | | Suspending network activity - requested by operating system 10/18/2025 8:09:46 PM | | Resuming after OS suspension 10/18/2025 8:09:46 PM | | Resuming computation 10/18/2025 8:09:46 PM | | Resuming network activity 10/18/2025 8:09:47 PM | | Contacting account manager at https://scienceunited.org/ I've been running BOINC since the Seti project started and I've never had any trouble. 10/19/2025 8:34:33 AM | Rosetta@home | Server error: feeder not runningIf the feeder isn't running, the project won't be able to send you new tasks. That makes it a project issue, not yours. Similarly, WCG has been down for quite a long time at the moment, though they may be getting closer to having work again. For that, see the thread on World community grid in the projects section fo these boards. |

In reply to Dave's message of 19 Oct 2025: Not in Rosetta@home's case.10/19/2025 8:34:33 AM | Rosetta@home | Server error: feeder not runningIf the feeder isn't running, the project won't be able to send you new tasks. That makes it a project issue, not yours. It's an incorrect error message- the feedewr is running. However there are multiple issues with Rosetta, but since the project has pretty much been abandoned by those responsible for it, none of them have been addressed. This one is actually a problem with IPv6. The fix is to disable IPv6, or to put an entry in your Hosts file to use IPv4 for Scheduler contact (and it may still be necessary to do the same for the download servers). Rosetta@home | Server error: feeder not running 8/25/2025 6:07:39 AM | Even then, the odds of getting work are slim to bugger all. Until the last couple of days there was no work available for over 3 weeks. Prior to that, it was several days to a couple of weeks between work being released. And when work is released the batches are so small that if you don't request it at just the right time (generally within 5 minutes of it being released), you won't get any as it will all be gone. And even in the extremely rare case of a large amount of work being released there are issues with the feeder and assimilators resulting in it being near impossible to actually get work allocated for download, regardless of how many millions of Tasks there may be waiting to be processed. If Rosetta were a person it would be considered dead, with occasional post-mortem spasms. Grant Darwin NT. |

Thank you for the comprehensive answer. Do I need to be on this forum to find out about abandoned projects? Just wondering where you got this info. I never get notifications in the BOINC manager that there are problems. |

Just wondering where you got this info. I never get notifications in the BOINC manager that there are problems. You WON'T get any notifications in BOINC. Follow along with the rest of us in the Rosetta forums... As said previously the communication from Rosetta team is next to nothing. Problems and Technical Issues with Rosetta@home |
