The details of my issue follow: BOINC Ver: 8.2.4 BOINC hadn't been running since late August. I updated to latest version, no change. Then I see that We aren't to use Virtual Box (Which I think I have) rather Docker. I attempted to do the wsl install, but when I doubleclick the boinc-buda-runner.wsl, I get the following error Installing: D:\Downloads\boinc-buda-runner.wsl The operation could not be started because a required feature is not installed. Error code: Wsl/Service/RegisterDistro/CreateVm/HCS/HCS_E_SERVICE_NOT_AVAILABLE Press any key to exit... I have enabled WSL in Control Panel, so I'm at a loss. The projects in your log have had little to no work. WCG is down, Rosetta and GPUGrid have no work atm. SiDock has not had work in months. Try another project. ID: 116862 · Reply Quote

Then goto Control Panel -> Programs-> Programs & Features -> Turn Windows features on & off and make sure that Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform are checked. Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Subsystem for Linux are required, however Hyper V and Windows Hypervisor Platform aren't needed (they're not enabled on my Win10 Pro system and WSL and Podman are working). That maybe so, but back when v8.2.4 was released, in my BOINC 8.2.4 thread the thrid post i made was in relation to the list in the instructions for getting Docker/Podman up and running on Windows. click in the Windows search bar (lower left corner) click 'Control Panel' click 'Programs and Features' click 'Turn Windows features on or off' check the box for 'Virtual Machine Platform' if not already selected check the box for 'Windows Subsystem for Linux' click OK Restart the computer "check the box for 'Virtual Machine Platform' if not already selected" wasn't in the list (and still isn't) even though it is highlighted in the screen shot image. The other two aren't in the list, and they aren't needed for WSL (and enabling Hyper V will stop Virtual Box from working). Grant Darwin NT. ID: 116866 · Reply Quote
